Ben Folds, Rockin' the Suburbs

Okay, Folds, you win. For years I resisted. For years I made do with hearing 'Underground' and 'Brick' on Triple J. For years I shrugged whenever a friend told me how great your albums were. Then I cracked: first Whatever and Ever Amen on sale, then the superb Unauthorised Biography of Reinhold Messner second-hand... and now this. Full price. In pounds, you bastard.

And now I have to go out and buy all three of your other albums. Because if they're even half as good as Rockin' the Suburbs, they'll have six tracks each of some of the very best pop music there is. Six tracks each to match 'Annie Waits', 'Losing Lisa' and 'Not the Same'. Six tracks each of clever lyrics and perfect piano. Six tracks each that I won't be able to get out of my head for weeks. Curse your talented hide, Ben Folds.
