Show Me the Money
Last July, in an artistic master-stroke, Edinburgh City Council installed a dramatic sculpture on the Royal Mile commemorating the victims of Burke and Hare:
But they backed down a few days later and replaced it with one of Adam Smith.
As you can see, this soon became a shrine for fans of the free market, praying that his ghostly invisible hand would guide them out of the credit crunch of early 2008 and into the glorious recovery of 2009. Unfortunately, he’s looking downhill towards the nearest branch of the Royal Bank of Scotland.
